The ministerial nominee of Niger state, Alhaji Musa Ibeto has had his nomination withdrawn by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ibeto, 56, who is the immediate past deputy governor
of Niger state, was listed in the first batch of ministerial nominee
sent to the Nigerian senate by the president.
Our National Assembly correspondent reports that the
former deputy governor was supposed to be screened at the senate today
by members of the upper chamber.
Recall that Ibeto defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) few days before the general elections earlier this year. Before then, he was having a running battle with his boss, former governor, Babangida Aliyu. Ibeto and over 200 political office holders in the state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, after the governor refused to back his aspiration to succeed him in office.

Ibeto has been replaced with Abubakar Bwari Bawa.
The presidency is yet to give any reasons for the withdrawal as at the
time of writing this report.
Buhari’s letter read: “I write to withdraw the nomination of Hon. Ahmad Musa Ibeto earlier submitted for confirmation as minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Pls accept the assurance of my esteemed consideration.”
Five months ago, Malam Ayuba Ibeto, the younger
brother of the former deputy governor, was kidnapped in Ibeto, Magama
local government area of Niger state.
