Sen. Dino Melaye, the Senate spokesperson, has said that the confirmation hearing of Rotimi Amaechi will come up today.
He said the report of the Ethics and Privileges Committee on Mr. Amaechi will be laid today.
Mr. Melaye, who disclosed that the Senate would screen at least three
nominees today, said, “certainly” the former Governor would be screened
today.

Barring any change in plans by the Nigerian Senate, a former Rivers
State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, will be screened by the upper
legislative chamber today for ministerial position.
Mr. Amaechi and five other nominees are listed in today’s Order Paper for screening.
Other nominees listed are Heineken Lokpobiri, Claudius Omoleye, Isaac Folorunsho, Baba Mustapha, Ocholi James.
However, there are indications the Senate may withdraw the current Order Paper.
The Senate is currently in a closed-door session where it is expected to determine Mr. Amaechi’s fate.
A source said the readiness or otherwise of the report of the Senate
Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions would influence
today’s Senate’s session.
Mr. Amaechi’s screening was deferred three times as he faces
opposition from the Peoples Demorcatic Party’s caucus in the Senate,
particularly the three senators from his Rivers State who submitted
petitions against him
