The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) have filed petitions pending at the Election Petitions Tribunal holden at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The two political parties, in the state are contesting various constituency elections declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the last National and State House of Assembly rerun elections across the state recently.
According to the Tribunal’s Petitions main register displayed at the Notice Board of the Tribunal and signed by its secretary, Barr Surajo .A. Gusua the PDP is contesting the declaration of APC candidates as winners in State House of Assembly elections in two constituencies, while the APC also challenging the declaration of PDP candidates as winners in eight state constituencies.
The register indicates that the PDP and its candidates, Hon Dike Kelly Adonye, and Tonye Awari Alalibo of Opobo/Nkoro and Akuku-Toru II constituencies respectively are challenging the declaration of APC and its candidates Hon Andrew Anderson Miller for Opobo/Nkoro and Barr Bembo Frederick Anabraba, Akuku-Toru II as constituencies as winners.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidates, Anyamwu Leo-Chinedu, Omuma, Chinedu Eric Apia, Ahoada East I, Sir Collyns Owhonda, Phalga Federal Constituency 2 and Hon Ibiso Nwobulyema Nwuche of Ahoada East (2) respectively, are challenging the declaration of PDP and its candidates, Nwogu Godspower Kelechi, Omuma Martyns Manah, Ahoada East I, Mrs Blessing Charles Nsiegbe, Phalga (2) Constituencies as winners during the elections.
The APC and its candidates Belief Wali Azeru, (Obalga II), Chidi J. Lloyd, (Emohua), Elored T. Lulu Braide, Degema and Hon Collins Chukwuemeka Ordu (Obalga) are challenging the declaration of the PDP and its candidates, Hon. Micheal Okechukwu Chinda (Obalga 2), Samuel Ogeh, (Emohua), Potor Farah Dagogo (Degema) and Hon Martins Amaewhule (Obalga I as winners in their various constituencies during the rerun elections held in the state.
The secretary of the Tribunal, Barr Surajo A. Gusan however, told journalists that the tribunal at the moment was perfecting the service process to all the affected parties in the matter before the pre-trial. We commence adding that they are having some challenges in serving.
It would be recalled that INEC few days ago issued certificate of returns to the winners in 8 state constituencies and three federal constituencies.
