Reactions On RSG Plan To Rename Rivers State College of Arts and Science


The plan by the Rivers State government to convert the Rivers State College of Arts and Science to Polytechnics has continued to elicit reactions from the public.

A Human Right Lawyer and indigene of Ogoni Dr. Terry Bargia has debunked insinuation that Ogoni people are against the move by the Rivers State government.

He said the renaming or conversion of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science in Port Harcourt will not in any way affect the social economic wellbeing of Ogoni people.

Dr. Terry Bagia also said critics of the proposal should rather commend Governor Nyesom Wike for appointing an illustrious son of Ogoni as chairman of governing council of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science.

Meanwhile, the co-ordinatorof a group known as Ken saro Wiwa Associate Gani Topba says the group will resist attempt by the Rivers state House of Assembly to pass the bill on the conversion of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science to Polytechnic without holding a public hearing on the matter.
