NURSS Appeals To Gov. Wike To Fulfill His Promise Of Bursary Payment And Appointment Of S.A On Student Affairs

The National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) worldwide is appealing to the governor of Rivers state, Chief Barr. E. N. Wike to fulfill his promise of payment of one year bursary to Rivers state students and the appointment of S.A on Student Affairs.

The national president of NURSS, Comrade Dan-Jumbo Vincent in the press release also thanked the governor of the state for granting audience to the leadership of the union on the 13th May, 2016 at Government House Port Harcourt. The visit according to him renewed hopes of thousands of Rivers State Students as well as strengthened their confidence on the Nyesom Wike led administration.

Despite the paucity of funds in the state and the poor state of the economy, the Governor during the meeting saw the need for the payment of bursary to Rivers State Students to serve as a palliative in these trying times, he stated.
The Governor, also noted the need to appoint an Special Assistant on Students Affairs that would supervise the verification process and also bridge the gap between the students and the government. To this end, His Excellency promised to announce the appointment and kick start the bursary verification process in record time, Jumbo added.
Being aware of the busy schedule and itinerary of the Governor, as a union we therefore appeal to His Excellency to fulfill the promises made to Rivers State Student by appointing the S.A on Students Affairs and kick-start the bursary verification process as days, weeks, months have gone by since the promise was made and its causing unrest in the students community, he lamented.

Comrade Dan-Jumbo reassured Gov. E.N. Wike of the unflinching support of the students for the success of his administration; stating that the success of his administration is a success to Rivers people, Rivers State Students and a success for our Democracy.
