Residents Of Waterfronts Appeal To Gov. Wike Shun Planned Demolition


Residents of Some waterfront in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt where their shanties have been marked for demolition have appealed to the Rivers State Government to shelve its plan

The affected waterfront shanties marked for demolition by the Rivers State Government over alleged insecurity include Urualla, Elechi Beach, Emenike and ten others.

Some residents in the affected waterfronts said any attempt to go ahead with the plan demolition will render them homeless.

Ninety four year old paramount ruler of the over ten affected waterfronts communities GILLIS PETERS is also appealing to the state government to have a rethink over the plan to demolish shanties in the areas to save the over twenty thousand persons residing there.

Meanwhile, the Youth Chairman of Elechi Beach Waterfront Phase 1, BELEMA KAILO and other key stakeholders in the area said the waterfronts are peaceful with no criminal elements.
