Rivers State House of Assembly Approves N9 billion Loan For Gov. Wike

The Rivers State House of Assembly has given go ahead to Governor E. N. Wike for a nine billion loan. 

The Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly Dabotorudima Adams shortly after the house approval of the loan said the money is for capital projects.

He also said the loan will be serviced from the yearly annual dividend from the Eleme Indorama Petrol Chemical Company.

During debate,  the Leader of the house, Matins Amewhule said the government is conscious of development that will impact the state positively.

The Chief Wipe of the house, Evans Bipi called on the house to give a listening ear to the request for the governor to gain access to the funds.

Meanwhile the All Progressive Congress, APC in Rivers State has expressed displeasure over the amount of loans borrowed by the governor Nyesom Wike led administration.

The State publicity secretary of APC Chris Finebone said Nyesom Wike is planning to mortgage the future of Rivers people by frequent seeking of loans from financial institutions.

Chris Finebone also alleged that the governor has refused to disclose the 2016 budget to Rivers people.
A political analyst and sociology lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt Dr. Sofri Peterside says frequent loan obtained by the Rivers State government is not good for the state.

Dr. Sofri Peterside advised the state government to priorities it projects in order to work with the available funds. The university Don also called on the federal government to regulate loans obtained by state government in order to put a check on it.
