Women Journalists In Rivers State Calls For Immediate immediate and speedy Prosecution Of Alleged Rapist






Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Rivers State chapter has called for immediate and speedy prosecution of the alleged rapist Mallam Bashir Alagori

Mallam Bashir Alagori, a 25 years of age man  allegedly raped a 10 year old girl  in his kiosk at Rumuibekwe Housing Estate two months ago is now feared dead.

The Aunty of the deceased Felicia Opara told correspondent Monica Ogwa that her nice who was living with her at the estate died at the weekend a private hospital in Port Harcourt.

Felicia Opara said her nice died of infections resulting from the rape incident.
She said the suspect Mallam Bashir Alagori is now in police custody.

Sources told our correspondent that the 10 year old girl was raped when she went to buy sachet of milk from the Mallam around 8pm.

Meanwhile the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police command Omoni Nnamdi said the command is yet to be brief of the victim’s death.

NAWOJ chairman in Rivers State Lilian Okonkwo called on judges in the State to refuse any bail application for the suspect and ensure that justice is done in the matter.

She also cautioned parents and guardians not to allow their children run errand at late hours to avoid fallen victim of rapists.
