Establish Links With Your Constituencies; Gov. Wike Charges Newly Sworn-In Commissioners

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has charged  newly sworn-in commissioners to establish links with their respective constituencies, so that the people can benefit from Government Programmes.

The governor also charged  caretaker committee chairmen to pay salaries of workers and support security agencies in their local government areas.

He spoke on  Friday during the swearing-in of commissioners and caretaker committee chairmen at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

He said: "As commissioners, you must have a link with your people. If you lose touch with your people, government will have a problem.

" From time to time, brief your people on the programmes of government for the good of the state. Be committed to your work. If you do your work, you will get my support."

He charged the new commissioners  to be loyal to the state government, pointing out that undivided loyalty will not be allowed.

"Think outside the box on ways to improve the state", he said.

To the caretaker committee chairmen, the governor said there  should be no compromise  on the payment of salaries.

He stated that any chairman  found to compromise security will be sacked. He warned them against forming or arming groups.

" The extension of your tenure will be based on your performance " , the governor noted.
