The Inter-ethnic Network for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (INCRA), a foremost media group in Rivers State, lauds the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim K. Idris, over the renewed vigour and passion manifested by men of the Nigerian Police Force towards combating crimes in recent times.
In less than a week, the police force has successfully arrested a number of kidnap, murder and ritual suspects who were previously at large.
The people of Rivers State and indeed Nigerians were greeted with the good tidings of the recapture of a suspected ritualist and murderer, Mr. Ifeanyi Dike, who escaped from police custody in Port Harcourt a couple of weeks ago. Mr. Ifeanyi, who reportedly kidnapped and murdered an eight-year old girl, little Chikamso, was re-arrested in Plateau State yesterday.
Also, the police has made other major arrests of murder suspects in different locations within the country in the last couple of days. Notable amongst such arrests is that of the abductors and murderers of Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Onunkwo in Imo State. Recall that Some weeks ago, the billionaire kidnapper, Mr. Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike also known as Evans was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police and is currently under trial.
These arrests have undoubtedly restored the hope and confidence of the citizens in the ability of the police to protect members of the public.
We commend the Police force as well as urge them to do more and ensure crime and criminality are reduced to the barest minimum. We also call on the authorities to ensure that the suspects arrested are made to face the full wrath of the law.
