Kehinde Olamide Ogunwumiju has emerged the youngest among the list of 30 lawyers’ shortlisted for the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN only at age 37.
The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) on Thursday announced the appointment of 30 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.
The Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizatu Mustapha, made the announcement in Abuja while briefing journalists at the end of the committee’s 127th meeting.
Kehinde is 12 years post-call and had dedicated his post call years to active advocacy and personal development. He is an associate in the firm of Afe Babalola & Co.
Others include Festus Keyamo, who is believed to have been unsuccessful on previous applications and Oluwatoyin Bashorun, as the only female approved for the legal rank among five females that applied.
The LPPC is a committee created and empowered by the Legal Practitioners Act (Cap L11 LFN 2004) to award the rank of SAN to deserving lawyers.
It has its secretariat at the Supreme Court of Nigeria and is headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who is the chairman.
