The Chairman of the adhoc committee set up by the Senate to carry out investigations into the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) trading Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has dispelled rumours of being under pressure from the Presidency and other quarters.
"Let me dispel the rumour going round that the committee is under intense pressure either from the Presidency or elsewhere. The fact is that, we are not under any pressure from anyone, let alone from the Presidency," Senator Aliyu Wamakko said.
Wamakko's Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani said in Sokoto that the Senator dismissed this during the inauguration of the Committee at the Senate in Abuja.
The Senator pointed out: "I am sure that those of us who know President Muhammadu Buhari are quite sure that, he will never interfere in such matters.''
He explained that the Committee could not hold its inaugural meeting last week due the absence of Chairmen of three Committees that deal with oil/NNPC.
According to him, they were out of the country to Russia with the Senate President.
He disclosed that they are crucial members of the adhoc committee, hence the delay.
