In view of the 2019 general elections, four aspirants have so far indicated interest in representing Abolga constituency in the RSHA in the 2019 elections under the APC. It is no secret, that Abolga has not had the best of representation for a while, this I think is why the next elections are very critical for we as a people. In this era of political activism, and awakening of political consciousness, it is pertinent that we take out time and scrutinize whoever indicates interest to represent us both state and federal.
Leadership I must say should be about commitment. It should be about sacrifice and selflessness. It should be about understanding the led and their demands as that is the only way he can bring about good laws that can benefit the people. Democracy as we know, gives us the people power to make informed choices on leadership. I must not fail to say that I respect these guys very much as individuals, but we are assessing them today because they have indicated interest in representing us as a people and as such the need for the assessment of their commitment and contributions over the years.
KAKIMUN NOAH
He is the oldest and arguably the most experienced and matured amongst the aspirants, whether this so called experience and maturity has bettered the life of the Abua man is a question begging to be answered. You recall that he served as legal aid to the administration of Hon. Udi Odum for years, it is worthy of note here that there's hardly any youth that can comfortably say that he benefitted from him personally in anyway.
EBOPHONI JONATHAN O.
Fondly called "EBOPH J" by his small closed circle. He played a little bit of students unionism and finally ended up as Chairman National Youth Council ABOLGA chapter. The National Youth Council of Nigeria as you know was established to build a synergy between Government and the youths of Nigeria. Whether the National Youth Council of Nigeria has achieved this aim, is story for another day. Eboph J's only assignment as chairman National Youth Council ABOLGA was to be a fulcrum in the integration of Abolga youths into Government activities by giving them a voice. It is shamefully true that the man who was supposed to be a melting pot or building block between Government and the youths of Abolga had no relationship with the youths in any part of the LGA because all he cared and still cares about is himself.
FELIX THANKGOD
He was never seen around the political arena until he was made a care-taker member of the LGA for himself and himself alone. After then, you hardly see him around even during important political gatherings especially gatherings of our party the APC. I guess he is still relying greatly on the forces that made him Care-taker member then, to take him to the RSHA. He was known to be in bed with our able Senator Magnus Ngei Abe until he noticed that the pendulum would never swing towards that direction before he finally retraced his steps.
KIIKPOYE KARIBO
He was a former student's union activist who played it from NANS, NURSS, SUG down to NUABOS. He has served his community Odaga at various levels including the office of the youth leader, he was PRO of the defunct Abua Kingdom Youth Congress and students Rep of the IYC, Abua amongst many other positions. Politically, he has been there as a faithful party member earnestly working for the success of the APC. Today, he stands tall amongst the people who have been agitating for a progressive ABOLGA. Sometime last year, he led some youths of the LGA to initiate a recall process against the Deputy Speaker RSHA owing to the fact that the later wasn't performing up to the responsibility for which he was elected. The recall process exposed Karibo to many threats to his life and the lives of those close to him. The recall process wasn't borne out of hatred for the person of Marshall Uwom, but rather out of love for Abua/Odual. You can hardly see Karibo in Abua/Odual without the presence of many youths around him because they know him to be a part of them. He has without a single political office provided JAMB forms to many students plus several aids to many youths. Even the old embrace him because he is very down to earth. As an intellectual, he is one of those who have placed ABOLGA in the world map through his books.
I think that inasmuch as the others have contributed in one way or the other to ABOLGA, Karibo has proven himself to be ahead of them in every ramification when it comes to the development of Abua/Odual. I think therefore that there is hardly anyone much more deserving to represent us in the RSHA.
