FEC Bids Fayemi Farewell In Valedictory Session

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has held a valedictory service for the former Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi.

The valedictory service was held before the weekly FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, the nation’s capital.

Mr Fayemi was described as a man who has contributed to the development of the Mines and Steel industry.

Last Wednesday he announced his resignation from President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet which will enable him focus on his governorship ambition ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti election, come July 14, 2018.

Mr Fayemi emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ekiti State in the party’s rescheduled primary election which held on May 12.

This will be the second time the minister will be contesting the position of governor in the state.

According to him, his vying for the position is because he was unable to complete his mission in his first tenure.

“I have a sense of unfinished business; not a sense of wanting to come back for desperate reasons. I served as governor of the state for four years – whatever I’m doing is based on the record that somebody could be subjected to critical scrutiny,” he had said.
