Three years after Governor Wike assumed office, every keen observer of events in River State would readily agree that the Governor has not been able to initiate any major project of its own outside completing some projects started by the previous administration in the State which were at different but appreciable levels of completion.
INCRA is saddened that with just one year left for Governor Wike to complete the tenure of his office, he can not in good conscience, lay claim to any laudable people-oriented project or program that his administration initiated and completed apart from minor repairs, renovations disguised as projects and groundbreaking ceremonies despite the huge financial resources at his disposal.
While we commend the Governor for being able to complete projects he inherited from the previous government, we are however, worried over the selective manner in which he goes about it. More distressing is the high level of insincerity with which he runs his government and the billions of naira wasted in a bid to beguile gullible members of the public that the completed projects are his brainchild or initiatives of his government. Rivers people are aware and cannot be deceived into according the government undeserved credits.
It is indeed ignominious that Governor Wike could stand before Rivers people on the occasion of his third anniversary account of stewardship to reel out projects his administration has completed when over 80% of such projects were started and almost completed by his predecessor. We urge the Governor to show some creativity, tact and wherewithal to embark on newer ventures and projects of importance that will impact on the average Rivers person, beyond mere groundbreaking ceremonies.
The Governor should at this point in the life of his administration, bother himself over leaving enduring legacies that will etch his name in the sands of time and shun petty politics for cheap political points and vain glory, especially, now that it is obvious he has less than a year to vacate the Brick House.
