Inter-Ethnic Network For Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (INCRA)
is calling for the investigation of Rivers State governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike on the alleged Gun-Running
INCRA reacting to a Press Release issued yesterday Sunday 10th June, 2018 by one Simeon Nwakaudu, the SA on Electronic Media to Gov.Nyesom Wike wherein he alleged plans by the FG to frame the Governor on phantom allegations of gun-running relying on the testimony of a certain unnamed Lebanese.
Our first logical conclusion is that it is highly possible that Gov. Wike may have gotten the lead of a likely crackdown on his gun running deal with his Lebanese fronts, hence his resort to blackmail with the aim of attracting public sympathy.
We would love to remind Nigerians that the latest allegations by Gov.Wike is quite charateristic of him whenever he gets up to something sinister.
It is important for the public to note that the Neighborhood Watch Bill already passed into Law by the Rivers State House of Assembly which has also been assented to by the Governor is an Executive Bill that emanated from the Governor's Office, the Bill provides for members of the Watch to bear Arms.
We would therefore like the Governor to explain to Nigerians how he intended to arm members of his Watch pursuant to the Law initiated and assented to by himself if not by engaging in Arms deals.
Further, we would like to awake the consciousness of Nigerians to the fact that the elections that produced Wike as Governor witnessed high number of violence resulting to deaths, beheadings, destruction of properties and kidnappings.
More so, that the country has recently witnessed cases of importation of massive Arms and Ammunition by unauthorized persons which have in turn, fueled security challenges across the country calls for a thorough investigation of every possible links
For us at INCRA, the antecedents of the Governor and his conducts in the recent and distant past strongly suggests that the possibility of being involved in gun-running has a precedent and is therefore credible.
In view of the above and the prime importance of Security in our private and National endeavors, we call on the Federal Government to put necessary machineries in place to monitor the Governor, his agents and other people who may be involved in the sponsorship of criminal enterprises across the Nation.
