The Minister of Works, Power and Housing Raji Fashola has directed the PHED to immediately restore power in Elele-Alimini, Elele barracks, Elele, Akpabu, Omuagwa, Omerelu, Ndele, Rumuji, and other parts of Ikwerre/Emohua communities that have been on darkness since last year.
This is coming few days after
the Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi promised the he will reach out to his colleague in power sector on how to restore power to the affected communities.
Recall that Chibuike Amaechi recently in a chieftaincy coronation event by the people of Ishimbam assured the people to restore the power.
Official of PHED Port Harcourt branch have confirmed that they have received a directive to restore power to the line in the affected areas.
He said PHED will be meeting with various stakeholders in the affected areas including LGA chairmen, Chiefs, Youth bodies and security agents on how to secure the facilities and ensure they are protected against vandals.
This clarification is coming contrary to the speculations that the LGA chairmen of Emohua and Ikwerre paid money to officials of PHED to restore light, this is not true as what the PHED wanted was assurance from leaders from the affected areas that they will provide security to guide against further destruction.
