INCRA Commends Amaechi For Dissociating Himself From Abe

The Inter-ethnic Network for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (INCRA), commends Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Honourable Minister of Transportation and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State/South-South, for expressly rejecting Senator Magnus Abe's mischievous statement describing him (Amaechi) as his leader.

Amaechi, who had hitherto, maintained a deafening silence over the excesses of Abe, broke the ice by categorically stating that he is not Abe's political leader, while frowning at his (Abe) insincere and hypocritical posture.

According to the Director General of President Buhari Campaign Organisation, 2019, "It's cheap and indeed shameful political sophistry for Abe to stand in the APC secretariat and deceitfully say I am his Leader, while all he has done, both privately and publicly in recent times is to undermine me, the APC and desecrate the APC in Rivers State.

"As a matter of fact, it is indeed very doubtful if Senator Abe is still in the APC. He mouths APC but his actions belie his words and clearly tell a different story.

"A man who wakes up, create an imaginary parallel party executive and went ahead to open an office for the non-existent parallel executive, that has no base and foundation, cannot be said to be committed, in anyway, to the party. As a matter of fact, his actions are obviously targeted at weakening and destroying the Party. Such a hypocritical, devious character cannot be my follower. I am not his leader."

We are startled by Abe's statement, considering the barage of verbal attacks and insults that he and his supporters have unleashed on Amaechi on several occasions, including describing him as an autocratic leader, having failed in arm-twisting him to support Abe's controversial governorship ambition.

Abe's continued pretence in recent times over his followership of Amaechi, is as shocking as it is insincere. One cannot explain how blatant disregard for directives and deliberate attempts to undermine Amaechi translates into submission to his leadership.

It is a well known fact that Abe's loyalty and submission towards the leadership of Amaechi ended no sooner as soon as he discovered that the former was unwilling to endorse him or any other aspirant for governor ahead of the forthcoming general elections, without first putting the party in shape to contend with the PDP.

Obviously, Amaechi's decision to delay giving his support publicly to any of the several governorship aspirants in Rivers State, outlived Abe's pretentious loyalty and uncovered his latent intentions to lead a rebellion against the party.

It would be recalled that, Abe hinged his rebellion on what he described as the autocratic tendencies of Amaechi. He stated that he was against the imposition of candidates on the party by an individual. Surprisingly, Abe has failed to live by example and provide good leadership to his followers as he is even guiltier of the same autocracy and imposition of candidates he had earlier accused Amaechi of.

Beyond the imposition of candidates on his followers, he went ahead to purchase nomination and expression of intent forms for all his candidates, taking full advantage of the largesse from the coffer of the EDFA, NDDC, Derek Mene, who happens to be one of his stooges.

We challenge Abe and his team to tell the public one elective office which more than one aspirant is contesting for or if he bought nomination forms for more than one aspirant per position to create an atmosphere of competition and democracy. Whereas, under Amaechi, virtually all the positions including the governorship, has at least two persons contesting for it.

Apart from Abe's failed attempt to validly create a parallel state executive structure of the party, he has made several attempts to balkanise the party, including dragging it to court and sponsoring litigations against it, just to actualise his selfish ambition of becoming governor.

Moreso, Abe declared war on the party and its leadership by consciously duplicating its activities, deliberately avoiding its functions, hobnobbing with the leadership of the PDP, and forming alliances at all levels with just about anyone he percieves to be politically opposed to Amaechi.

For us, it is in the best interest of the party that Amaechi, has publicly disowned Abe, by making it categorically clear that he is not Abe's leader and that he (Abe) has failed to conduct himself in a manner that shows he has regard for the party and its leadership. We consider this statement by Amaechi as timely and necessary, and we salute his outstanding courage to always wrestle saboteurs to the ground where they belong.
