A member of the National Peace And Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the South West, Dr Dakuku Peterside says their assignment will bring everybody together in the region for the good of the party.
Dr Peterside, who stated this shortly after their inauguration in Abuja, said the calibre of persons in the committee underscores the seriousness the party attaches to peace and reconciliation.
According to him, the South West is one the strongholds of the APC, hence the decision to bring everybody on board for the overall success of the party come 2019.
"Am sure you are aware that the APC won the majority of the votes in the South West in 2015 and we are poised to get more votes in 2019 in view of the giant strides of President Buhari in the zone.
"Recall also that the last two governorship elections in the South West have been won by the APC, meaning we are the party to beat in this area, hence why we will work assiduously to calm frayed nerves and bring smiles to the faces of everybody," he stressed.
Peterside, who is also the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), said the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who is from the South West, has been of immense of value to the zone and Nigeria at large.
"With leaders like Senator Bola Tinubu, six APC governors, members of National and State Assembly, political appointees, millions of party loyalists and discerning electorates, our party is leaving no stone unturned in our quest to win the 2019 general elections," he stated.
The former Reps member explained that Nigerians have tasted what a responsible government looks like under President Muhammadu Buhari and would reciprocate by voting him again in 2019.
The South West Peace and Reconciliation Committee is headed by Bornu State Governor, Kashim Shettima, while Governors Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna) and Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos); Modupe Adelabu, Dakuku Peterside, Ken Nnamani and Seida Bugaje are members.
