The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District and Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Mrs. Betty Okagua Apiafi has donated hospital equipments to Emelego Health Centre in Odual kingdom in Abua-Odual local government area of Rivers state.
Senator Betty represented by the Chief Medical Director of Rivers State Hospitals Management Board Dr. Kenneth Okagua, while handing over the items to the Paramount Ruler of Odual, His Royal Highness, King Temple Jamala, said the donation is aimed at resuscitating the health facility which will provide affordable healthcare and reduce mortality rate to the people of Emelego community and its environs.
The equipments donated include furnitures for the Labour Room, wards and other medical equipments.
His Royal Highness, King Temple Jamala, Olema Odual, thanked the Senator Betty Apiafi for constantly hearing the cry of her people and working assiduously to alleviate the plight of the downtrodden.
He said he was glad to see the state of the art furnishing she donated at the centre, and the facelift the place has instantly gotten. He prayed for God to answer her prayers and give her greater wisdom to lead.
Women of the community also thanked Senator Betty for remembering them by equipping the health center which will reduce the cost transporting themselves to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, whenever they have maternal challenges, which includes antenatal, birth, and postnatal care.
