Members who contributed during the committee on the whole commended the executive of being proactive to amend the budget to match current realities
They also agreed that the sum of N2.3bn be channelled to fighting the COVID 19 pandemic.
23 members voted in favour of the passage.
Meanwhile Lawmaker representing ONELGA Constituency 1 Hon Christian Ahiakwo has stressed the need for increased funding for the Health and Education sector particularly during the pandemic
Hon Ahiakwo during plenary today argued that for social distancing to be maintained in schools more classroom should be built to accommodate students
"Mr Speaker I dont think that the virus would be eradicated in the near future so one has to develop and change our way of life. If we look at the COVID 19, health and Education are most impacted.
"One of the precautionary measures to the COVID 19 is social distancing. What that implies is that a classroom that usually contains 60 children will now be 30 to comply with the social distancing, so what that means is that there will be massive construction of additional classroom to accommodate" he said.
