15 Die, 40 Hospitalized Following Suspected Cholera Outbreak In Kano

At least 15 people have died in Koya village of Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State, following suspected cholera outbreak in the community.

The village head, Sulaiman Muhammad, confirmed the incident to journalists, saying most of the victims were women and children.

Villagers who spoke to journalists said the victims experienced diarrhoea and vomiting.

Health officials who arrived at the village after the incident cautioned people against further drinking water from their wells and streams.

We gathered that 300 bags of sachet water were supplied to the community by individuals at the weekend to check further spread of the disease.

The state commissioner for Health Aminu Tsanyawa did not pick a telephone call, seeking the response of government over the issue.
