RIVERS EAST: REGINALD UKWUOMA WELCOMES GROUP'S QUEST FOR AN ETCHE SENATOR.

The Rivers East Interest Group, yesterday, paid a visit to the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Etche LGA, Hon. Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma at his Port Harcourt residence to seek his support towards the actualization of its mandate.

The visit was in continuation of the group's Senatorial District wide consultations with major stakeholders across the eight LGAs that make up the Rivers East Senatorial District for the actualization of an Etche Senator come 2023. Recall that the group has been touring the Senatorial District and consulting vigorously in a bid to rally total support for its mandate.

Stating its mission, the group explained that its quest for a Senator of Etche ethnic extraction was hinged on the fact that out of the three ethnic groups that make up the Rivers East Senatorial District, viz; Etche, Ikwerre and Wakirike, Etche was the only one yet to produce a Senator in the entire history of the District even though it had always supported other ethnic groups within the Senatorial District all these years since 1999, noting that it would be most equitable to allow for a Senator of Etche descent to represent the Senatorial District in 2023.

The group further hinted that it had gone ahead to conduct a thorough search across the Etche ethnic group and has found an illustrious son of Etche worthy in character and conduct; a trailblazer and reformer of no small measure who has made immense contributions towards the political and social development of Etche and its people. The group made clear that Chief (Barr.) Nnamdi Okere adequately fits the bill and expressed total confidence in his ability to effectively represent the Senatorial District at the Red Chambers.

On his part, Barr. Ukwuoma lauded the group for its advocacy which is the general mindset of every well-meaning individual from the Etche ethnic nationality. He pointed out that it was high time an Etche man or woman occupied the the Senatorial seat just like other ethnic groups in the Senatorial District have done.

Speaking further, Ukwuoma argued that Etche nation has an array of eminently qualifed persons who can provide efficient and exceptional representation for the Senatorial District in the Red Chambers. He however, noted that when the chips are down, Etche people will come together and take a unanimous position in line with the decision of the Party and its leadership.
