Amongst the 23 APC Presidential Aspirants set for screening, whom amongst them is truly close to President Muhammadu Buhari? I am not talking about history. I am not talking about people that have relationship with him. I am talking about someone that is like a son to him. Someone that has championed the course of President Buhari to the level that he fought his own brother, Goodluck Jonathan for the emergence of someone he truly loves; Mohammadu Buhari. APC has truly not given Amaechi the credit he deserves in bringing the party to power. And many have continue to over-rate the contribution of Tinubu to the APC. Let me refresh our minds, ACN led by Tinubu had attempted to grab power on three different occasions using mergers but didn’t succeed. However, until the coming-in of the five nPDP Governors led by Rotimi Amaechi, APC wouldn't have seized power from PDP. Those five Governors made the difference.
From the emergence of Buhari as the party's candidate to the campaigns, where he was the DG, its almost looks like Amaechi single handedly got Buhari to run and had to sacrifice himself to ensure Buhari’s victory in 2015. And in the process, he lost a lot of goodwill from his people in the South.
You may want to ask, what did he benefit from this sacrifice? But just look at what Buhari gave to Tinubu for doing less other than mobilizing his region. From Vice President, Senate President, Speaker, APC National Chairmen, Party Leadership positions, Top Ministerial Positions, Heads of Agencies, Business Opportunities etc, were all handed to Tinubu. Yet he still feels the president owes him. This continue to beat my imagination.
Many do not understand why the President had to appoint Amaechi to handle the Ministry of Transportation. Buhari really believes in Rail Transport and Agriculture. So he had to put his most trusted son to handle the biggest of them. Amaechi on his part didn't fail the President, he has delivered again and again. His handling of the ministry has given Buhari all the praises on infrastructural development. From the train Stations to the deep sea port. Amaechi has undoubtedly continue to ensure Buhari's administration leaves a clear legacy behind.
Let me ask, which ministry got the highest funding in this administration? Which ministry is being backed to source for funds to execute huge projects? Which ministry has continue to transverse the country building infrastructures? Which ministry has brought the president to commission projects the most? It's the Ministry of Transportation.
Also, look closely you will see another Son of Buhari. He kickstarts everything the president intends to do in his state before it commences at the federal level. The President has visited his state more than any other state. He's the one true acclaimed son of Mr President and he will never allow anyone regardless of who they are in the society embarrass President Buhari. That man is the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam El'rufai. And if you care to listen to what he said to the delegates when Amaechi visited Kaduna State, you'll see that he has already told us Buhari's choice. The same way, he told us it was Adamu Abdullahi that was Buhari's choice for National Chairman. And that the former CCECC Chairman, Mai Buni has to step down. The same way he has told us what's coming. He is the man, Buhari sends ahead. He has spoken.
According to El'rufai, Amaechi is Buhari's trusted son. And even if the Northern Elders and the entire power blocks combine together to prevail on the President, it will be a waste of time. Amaechi has been anointed by President Buhari and he will be the consensus candidate of APC. And Buhari will do all it takes to make him President. Including joining him to campaign in all the states and asking his ardent supporters to vote Amaechi. And as you know, his supporters are not the elites and power brockers, they are the Poor, the Talakawas, the Wheelbarrow Pushers, the Almajiris, the Okada riders etc. Amaechi will defeat Atiku fair and square in the South and with the help of Buhari it will be a “walk in the park” in the North. In Amaechi/Atiku's contest, I predict a larger margin of victory for the APC, than that of Buhari/Atiku's contest in 2019.
Amaechi is Buhari's anointed candidate. He is the only one that will sustain the Legacies of President Buhari. And this week it shall be revealed and nobody including the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo or Tinubu will attempt to resist the president’s choice. It will be a consensus arrangement for APC Presidential Primary with His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the Presidential Flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 29th May, 2023.
