Chief Samuel Ogbuku, was prepared for a day like this, with a Ph.D in Political & Administrative Studies and a Master's in Development Studies as the Managing Director of the NDDC he is living up to his billing.
A product of the Niger Delta struggle, a student union activist and one-time executive member of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Central Zone, and former Chief of staff to the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, truly everything he touched in the past turned Gold.
President Buhari found him worthy to superintend over the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) ship between December 2022 till he left office. On assumption to office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requested certain heads of critical Government Agencies visit him to give him a first-hand update, Chief Samuel Ogbuku as M.D/CEO NDDC fell under the category. Fillers from the Presidency confirmed that, President Tinubu was so impressed with the NDDC MD, he had to re-appointment him to continue with the fantastic job he is doing at the commission.
For the first time since inception, the news of Contractor protests over unpaid monies has become a thing of the past, from the first day Dr. Samuel Ogbuku took the mantle of leadership at the commission he met with relevant stakeholders to ensure that everyone is being carried along in the scheme of things at the commission. For the pass nine months after assuming office, he has remained true to that promise. Chief Samuel Ogbuku has ensured that contractors were paid and he may break the record to become the only Managing Director of NDDC to ever clear up to 80% of backlogs of outstanding payments..
Staff of the commission now wear smiling faces to work, this is obviously because, they feel at home under Dr. Ogbuku's leadership. In the series of meetings he has had with staff and directors, he has insisted that every single individual in the commission is an integral part of the team, as such inputs and suggestions are most welcome.
One can only imagine the level of development that will come to the Niger Delta Region in the next four years, with Chief Dr Samuel Ogbuku at the helm of affairs.
