The Port Harcourt Club yesterday elected Comrade (Dr.) Achese Igwe the Honorary President of a new Management Committee to pilot the affairs of the 95-year old country club for the next one year.
Other members of the Management Committee are the Honorary Vice President, Engr. Oyibo, Emuobor, the Honorary Treasurer, Apollos Obianime, the Honorary Membership Secretary, Chijioke Amu-Nnadi, the Honorary House and Grounds Secretary, Fidelis Nkwo, the Honorary Bar and Kitchen Secretary, Dandy Hart and the Honorary Sports Secretary, Godlove Kiri.
Unveiling the “Renewed Hope” agenda of his new team after their inauguration by the Chairman of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Barrister Christopher Green, Comrade Igwe stated that “the task before the Management Committee is to improve on the existing infrastructure and security network, as well as build a stronger bond among members and the society at large.”
He commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, who is the Grand Patron of the club, “for his show of love for the club and members, and for bringing back the presence of Government in our dear club.”
Comrade Igwe also commended the past President of the club, Hon. Soe Dikibo and Board of Trustees and College of Captains, vowing to build on their achievements. “I strongly believe deep in my heart that together we shall achieve great things for Port Harcourt Club 1928,” he declared.
