We’re Laying Solid Foundation For Prosperous Rivers-Wike …Promises To Incorporate Opposition In Governance
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said his
administration is committed towards laying a solid foundation for a
united, secured and prosperous Rivers State.
Wike, who spoke on the theme: “Why Some Nations Succeed and Others Fail”, at the 2015 South Eastern Zonal Lagos Business School Alumni Dinner, in Port Harcourt, said Rivers State remains a safe haven for investors.
The state chief executive, who was represented by the Senior Special Adviser, Administration to the Deputy Governor, Barr. Gilbert Nria, identified education and industrialisation as critical for sustainable development of any nation, pointing out that the lust for political power is responsible for the backwardness of most African countries.
“Leaders are power driven, with little or no regard for the rule of law,” he noted.
Wike emphasized that the state government is committed to running open, inclusive and accountable government with boundless opportunities for citizens to pursue their goals and realize their full potentials.
“This government will actualize the aspirations of Rivers people for a balanced development and an enhanced quality of life for the present and future generations,” he asserted.
He expressed desire of the state government to collaborate with “Lagos Business School” in providing necessary economic incentives to boost private sector driven economy in the state.
Earlier, the President of Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA), Mr. Wole Oshin, said the association has a membership of over 5,500.
High point of the dinner was the recognition of Governor Nyesom Wike for his outstanding performance in governance.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has pledged to seek the input of opposition political parties in the governance of the state.
He made the pledge when he played host to members to leaders of 28 political parties under the banner of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Government House, in Port Harcourt.
“All of us must see Rivers State as one”, he said, adding that, “there is need for everybody to come together.”
Wike promised that henceforth other parties would be incorporated in appointments both at the state and local levels, while thanking them for resisting to be lured to participate in the last local council election that was declared illegal by the courts.

On his part, Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah,
who is also the leader of the group during a courtesy call in Government
House, said the body is impressed by the developmental efforts of Wike
since assumption of office.
“We have risen with one voice to pass vote of confidence on the Wike administration” Obuah declared as he prayed God to give the governor more wisdom and enablement to lead the state. Obuah maintained that the governor needs maximum support from all sections of the state.

A member of the body, Ali Komah commended Wike for giving the state a
new look, adding that, “this administration has affected the lives of
the common man at the grassroots”.
He listed the payment of salary arrears, scholarships, pensioners as many of the visionary decisions Wike has taken so far.
For Deacon Enyi, the Operation Zero Pot Hole has confirmed that Wike has the interest of the people at heart.
Enyi said the decision of some opposition parties to boycott the last local government election was not misplaced because they have been vindicated that the right person to follow was Wike.
Ali Komah, on his part, lauded the governor for keeping to his electoral promises since he assumed office, and promised that the 28 parties in the forum will always support him in his programmes.
