Abe Never Influence Amaechi's Screening As Minister; INCRA Tell Saraki

The foremost pan-Rivers group, Inter-ethnic Network for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, INCRA, takes strong exception to a statement made by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at a Thanksgiving Ceremony in Port Harcourt on 10th February 2018, wherein he wrongfully accorded praises to Senator Magnus Abe of Rivers South-East Senatorial District, for facilitating the successful screening and confirmation of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as the Minister of Transportation.

While we do not wish to join words with the Senate President, because we hold in high esteem the exalted office which he occupies, it is however pertinent for us to set the record straight, especially in this era when very many beneficiaries of Rt. Hon. Amaechi, are running amok, claiming to be his benefactors.

The statement by Dr. Saraki, that Rt. Hon. Amaechi was sworn in as the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, simply because Senator Abe mounted pressure on him (Saraki), is nothing but outright falsehood that has no bearing whatsover with reality.

Just in case Distinguished Senator Saraki has forgotten, may we remind him that his colleague, Abe, was not yet a Senator in the 8th Senate when President Muhammadu Buhari transmitted the list of Ministerial nominees for screening and confirmation to the Senate. He (Abe) only became a part of the present National Assembly after the December 10, 2016, Re-run Legislative Elections in Rivers State.

From the forgone, it beggars rational reasoning how Senator Abe could have directly or indirectly influenced the screening and confirmation of the Minister of Transportation on 29th October 2015, when he was yet to find his feet on the floor of the Red Chamber.

Consequently, we humbly advise the Senate President, as the leader of the second arm of government, to always endeavour to make statements that are guided and guarded by credible facts, especially when speaking in the public domain.
